Where are we now?

So where are we now?

It's been a while since I've blogged.  Somewhere along the way, I fell off the wagon into Lazy Town, and lost my motivation.  However, I now have a few days at work where my hours have shifted, so I get some time in the morning to come in and write!

Our adoption process is slowly trudging along.  When I last blogged, we had finished our classes and had had our first home visit.  Here is where things came to an annoying halt.  We were waiting on our final home visit in order to have any progress whatsoever.  Unfortunately, this visit got delayed numerous times.  That high that we had achieved by finishing classes was slowly sinking to a low.  I know that no matter how much time goes by, we are going to be matched with the child that's meant for us.  It's just depressing when you're having to wait on other things and people to fall into place in order to get there.

We finally ended up being scheduled for December 30th, and it actually happened!  Both visits were a breeze.  We were asked more in depth questions on some of the bigger issues they needed clarification on, and she checked a few more things in the house.  So now we wait.  Our social worker will write up our profile, which has to be approved by the DHR director.  Then it will be sent to the state department to be approved by them, and THEN we can move forward.  Patience is definitely the learning lesson here.

On an exciting note, while we have been waiting, several other adoptive families are either meeting their children or are about to travel to get paperwork done.  While I have pretty much given up on any good coming from Facebook, it is such a blessing to be able to get on there and see the progress that other families are making.  The call to adopt is not for everyone, but we can all come together and support and rejoice with families that are led to do so.

The first link is a family that are in China right now picking up their new daughter, and the second is a family that is about to embark on their second adoption from Ukraine! Please be in prayer for both of these families and their exciting journeys!
